we are fun people.... see?

have you been bored with us? 'cause we have. so we decided as our last weekend in DC we would actually do something not related to work, and do something we have been wanting to do all summer. we made a trip down do the smithsonian today to go and see the air and space museum! we hopped on the metro for a quick ride and landed smack in the middle of 'the mall." luckily it wasn't too hot outside and we walked around the mall for a bit and ate snacks, and checked out the museum. it was pretty sweet- they do an amazing job with it. joe was loving it! his secret dream life would be to fly around in planes, and he was totally digging seeing how they worked and have evolved, and their role in history. we didnt snap a ton of pictures, but enough so that we could prove we went. see?
the cessna was the perfect size for me!

not so much for him- a tinsy bit too small
and now we are tired. i am leaving in just a week and a half- i can't wait to see my family on the way back to utah! time sure is flying! (haha, get it?)

okay so its been a while

yep. and not much has been going on. i wish i had pictures to document everything so as to be more entertaing for anyone reading, but as soon as we needed to use the camera the battery went dead, and we can't find the charger. but here's an update, for anyone who cares to know :)

joe has had a great summer selling, but the last week and a half have been really rough for him, due to being extremely ill. we can't figure out whats wrong, and its lasted way longer than a flu bug should last..... we have tried to get him to a doctor and as always, health insurance has been a struggle. besides which we figure they wouldn't tell him much anyways. we got him in finally, and of course that was a total waste of time. hopefully he kicks this soon!

despite him being sick and afflicted, i continue to be spoiled by my wonderful hubby who suprised me with the book that i have been dying to get my hands on. i was waiting patiently to borrow it from my sister, but he bought it for me and it came yesterday! i have had to force myself to not speed through breaking dawn and savor it as long as possible, and its killing me! i have to do little things to reward myself to be able to read another chpater, like do some laundry, clean the kitchen, etc., basically all day. we'll see how long i can make it last!

other than that we have few other things going on.... we leave in three weeks- only three weeks!- and head back to provo. we're making a stop in st louis on the way back. its all i can to to keep myself from starting to pack up already. hopefully we can fit in a few more things while in the nations capital, and make use of the time we have here!

so this is something thats been happening....... i wish i could post a picture of this so you can understand, but again the whole camera thing.... we've had a problem with a leak in our bedroom ceiling. there was a leak from something up there, they thought it was the water heater, and so they 'fixed' that, said to let it dry, but then it keep dripping, kept dripping, and finally decided to actually look and see what was going on. it was the sprinkler system that was causing the leak, and because it was so bad they had to cut a ginormous hole in the ceiling, which revealed tons of moldy, nasty insulation and rotting wood. they fixed up the sprinkler stuff and took out a bunch of stuff, but they still want it to dry out before patching things up again, so we have this gross, smelly hole that i stare at every night, and it freaks me out. i have this weird 'fear' of mold, and this seriously makes me sick to look at.

speaking of being sick..... i'm down to 80 days left of this pregnancy! its been fun, but i'm totally ready to meet this little girl! and besides which, i am getting anxious to start getting the nursery and everything set up! we spend time everyday looking stuff online, taking notes of what we like, what has good reviews, and so forth. there will be plenty to do as soon as we get back!

i'm gonna go see if i can find that camera battery charger, and then maybe read another chapter.....

growing pains....

its a funny sensation- there are days when i know that this baby is growing, and today is definitely one of those days. she has been kicking me in the ribs all day, and my back is killing me. my feet started to swell after walking just a few minutes. I know this is all typical stuff and i'm lucky it hasn't come sooner, but its all kinda hit me today. and i feel like a balloon today. the belly is swelling out of control.

sorry about the complaining, its more supposed be me contemplating the whole baby thing. i think its so fascinating, and it such a miracle. to watch her kick and see my tummy move all over the place is so funny to me.... i just can't wait to meet her!

a wedding and seeing some family!

its been a crazy weekend so far: here's the run-down of the wedding events (it was joseph's cousing sarah who got married- one of the cutest girls ever!)

joseph's mom, his sister laura, her husband, and their three kids made the trek up here yesterday, and after a drive that took a little longer than planned, they stopped by to pick me up. they had been trying to get to the temple for the endowment session, but didn't make it. so we waited for everyone to come out after... boy were those kids needing a break! they were cute as can be, but who doesn't go a little wacky after being in the car that long? we said hi to all the family who was there, and made a break for the hotel and got the kiddies suited up for a swim. they are total water babies and were so fun to watch! then joseph and jill drove out from work came and said hi to the family as well and to see the kiddies. they loooove their 'uncle jill' (jamison was having a hard time getting aunt and uncle straight) and 'uncle jooooooseph'!

today joseph and jill took the morning off so we could all go to the sealing, and while we were on time, i could not find my recommend anywhere! we turned the apartment upside down twice looking for it, and it is no where to be seen. we hadn't seen it since the last time we went to the temple, so we thought maybe it had gotten left there... .well it definitely wasnt there, but they looked me up, and joseph's uncle happens to be a stake president and vouched for me, so by a miracle we all got in and attended the funniest sealing ever! the temple sealer was the funniest old man, and laura's husband jason was cracking us up the whole time. for memory's sake, may we never forget the awful but oh so hilarious moment of 'awkward,' the bad idea of taking the stairs, and the sealer's very insistent directions for where each of us was to sit.

we decided that we needed to treat ourselves to cheesecake factory afterwards and that was pretty funny too.... our poor watiress! jk it wasn't that bad- but there were definitely a few moments of wacky-craziness- the biggest grilled cheese sandwich ever and playing musical seats with the kids.... never to be forgotten!

we definitely wish we could have spent a lot more time with everyone and that we could have gone to the wedding reception, but we had to get back to work, so we said our good-byes to everyone and we hope to see them again soon!
the new couple!

i told you i love laura's other kids just as much as sierra! miss paige is quite the chunky monkey and jamison is one smart cookie! we love you guys!

i laughed so hard i cried......

i love my dad. naturally.

one of the best things about my dad- his hilarious sense of humor. we get the best emails from him, and they always manage to make me smile. he always has a funny story from work where he was playing a joke on someone, especially because he does not come across as a prankster when you first meet him. some people don't get his sense of humor, and you won't appreciate it til you get to know him, but once you do, then you can truly appreciate this from a recent email:

as long as i can remember, my dad has been a master picture editor, and i never get enough of his work. i got this one at the office one day, and no one could appreciate this enough. thank you for the laughs dad!

can't hide it anymore!

for anyone who hasn't seen me in the last few months.....

please know that he is arching his back and sticking out his tummy!

at a pound and a half, the little one is making an appearance that I just can't hide anymore! just an update on that..... and I got my cell phone to work again! thank goodness! however, I do need to get a new battery, the charge lasts 24 hours or less now, and that always makes me nervous....

for an update of our fun week last week, head over to my mom and sister's blog to see some things that we did while they visited! it was SOOOOO fun to have them here, and wish we could be together more often!

7.02.2008

its....a....girl!

so we FINALLY found what we are having and couldn't be more excited to welcome a little girl into the world! but there is a little story that goes with it- but i'm a little embarassed.....

so my mom and sister sarah decided to take a little trip out to see us, and got here saturday. they took a quick trip down to virginia to see my aunt and to visit williamsburg yesterday, and they planned to just meet us for lunch in virginia right before the appointment today. it was a little hectic and crazy morning, and i had to be in the office for a few hours before we could drive the 45 minutes to the doctor. i was a little late leaving, and then i realized that i didn't have my insurance card on me, and that i needed to pay for something online before the appointment. i turned the apartment upside down looking for it, and never did. i dashed to a computer to pay the bill, then ran back to the car, anxiety gripping me because we were late and i wasnt sure if they would see me without my card.....

there was no traffic somehow, so we were able to get there on time. ate a quick lunch and got to the office. check in, (was fine without card) wait a little bit, have the ultrasound, and they tell me i can go do a urine sample. (this is where it gets funny!)
two confessions:
i HATE trying to pee in a cup! its always a disaster and i get a little nervous every time i have to do it.
i also think that people who drop phones in toilets and then ruin their phones then have to ask for everyone's number again are DUMB for using their phone in a bathroom.

so i go in there, freaking out because i had just seen my baby and found it was a girl but trying to be all chill about the whole thing. i had my phone in my back pocket of my pants, and i was like oh, don't want the phone to fall in, i'll take it out and put it away so i don't drop it in. so as i pull my phone out (that i just got a few months ago) it slips and splashes into the toilet! wanting to save it, i snatch it before it goes down the pipes, and pull it out. i pressed a button and it still worked! i cleaned it off, and then proceeded to finish my business, which took forever! then after sanitizing everything that i could and cleaning off the phone like 6 times, i looked to see if it worked again, but alas, no luck. and drying it off didn't help either. so basically a really expensive doctor's visit. dangit. so anyone who has been waiting to hear the news, i'm really sorry i had been planning on letting everyone know what we are having, but uh, thats gonna have to wait til i can get a new phone.

anyways..... great appointment, she looks perfect and healthy, and we can already tell a few things about her: she has my nose and joe's feet! we have a pic of her foot and her second toe is longer than the big toe, a trait that joe has but i do not. she's got sass and kept kicking away while she was doing the ultrasound. it was so fun to have my mom and sister there, it is a completely different experience that what she ever had. um i havent taken a picture of the pictures that they gave us, but i'll get those up sometime. now time for bed. i'm exhausted!

we have pictures!

the promised pictures have arrived! i know, finally something to look at! with that, here's a litle update of our current life:
the weekend after mother's day we drove all night to north carolina for a quick trip to see the brewer fam. all the siblings, nieces and nephew made appearances, even grandaddy brewer showed up! we had a grand time, some delicious food, and some time to not think about work. we drove back that sunday night, and went back to work and have been working ever since.....
here are a couple pictures of niece sierra. i promise we love all of laura's kids the same, but we only have video of jamison and a weird picture of sierra and me that i would rather not let the world see...... and si-si was just being a little cutie pie!
we took about fifty takes of this picture. she was all cute with the teddy bears all around, but we could not get her to smile!
this girl loves to play dress up! her current fave at ya-ya's house is this gray wig. it cracks us up!
today was such a great day. we slept in, had some yummy french toast, and had a really great sacrament meeting- because joe spoke! (but i didn't- thats what made it soooo great!) we spent some time just relaxin' and watching a movie, making dinner, and now we are down in the internet cafe, catching up with what goes on in the rest of the world!
soon to-be-daddy. i made a cake. it wasn't that good. so depressing.
we spent some time making calls today to family and friends to catch up, and then i pulled out the camera to document the fact that we are alive. we get so happy to actually see each other longer than five minutes on sunday.

we are so silly.

at last! baby bump picture! i have basically reached the stage where i look pregnant and not just a little chubby around the middle.... kinda. it really actually depends on the angle. we are hoping that i pass up joe before the end of the pregnancy..... i think i will. what do you think???

okay.... i promise this was an accident. i just deleted the picture of us comparing tummies, and i can't get it back.... i will update this and repost it later.

baby update! we are heading back to the doc in couple weeks for the ultrasound that will tell us the gender! definitely looking forward to that appointment! this little wiggle worm reminds me that he is in there all the time, and i can't wait to 'see' him again sooooo soon! my mom and little sister are driving out here to visit and will get to be there to see it as well. basically we are having a party. anyone else who wants to attend is more than welcome to come join the fun! okay. time for bed.

ps- i love you!

i've said this before, but really, this is further proof that joe and i were meant for each other.

if you have not seen ps i love you, you must do it now. it will make you cry. unless you are a heartless soul like myself.......
so i had heard that i needed to watch this movie a million times, i borrowed it and was promised i would cry. i pretty much didn't even think about crying. but i knew that joe would. so, on sunday, i took a nap while he watched it. two hours later, i was woken up by him putting his arms around me, and somehow through sobs he said "don't ever leave me" in my ear. i was a little confused because i was still coming out of sleep, and then i saw his face. tears streaming down his face, all he could do for a half hour was sniffle, snuggle up to me and tell me how much i meant to him and that i could not ever leave him. he didn't just cry. he bawled his way through the whole thing. you would think it would be the other way around, but seriously, i snagged a good one. he has a heart!

and ps joe- i love you!
